Hunter hears rustle in the woods and shoots girlfriend instead
A hog-hunting trip for one couple in Flagler County ended with a trip to the hospital.
According to Flagler County Sheriff's deputies, 52-year-old Steven Egan was out hunting for hog with his girlfriend Lisa Simmons Saturday night, when he accidentally shot her in the legs. Deputies say he heard a noise in the woods and shot in that direction, thinking he was shooting a hog.
Simmons was hit in both her legs with a .30-caliber bullet. She was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in serious condition and may undergo surgery.
