Hollywood police officers are requesting a 12.5% increase in pay to balance out a pay cut in 2011.
The Sun-Sentinel reports that city hall only met the demand with a 2% raise, causing the Broward Police Benevolent Association to declare an impasse.
The stalemate this year follows deep spending cuts in 2011 when the city was dealing with a $38 million shortfall. One of the ways the city made ends meet was by cutting police pay.
Reports say that several police officers are looking for jobs outside the city where officers make more in salary.
