Suspect taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with gunshot wound

MIAMI – A Miami homeowner shot at a naked man he found in his yard choking his dog on Wednesday morning, police say.

According to police, residents of the home, located at 175 N.W. 56th Street, were awoken by their barking dog about 5 a.m.

When one of the residents went outside to investigate, he found the naked man choking the dog and tried to intervene.

That's when the suspect began to bite the resident, who responded by shooting the suspect, striking him once.

When officers arrived, the suspect continued to fight with the victim and with responding officers.

The suspect, identified by police as Jeffrey Delice, was finally subdued and brought into custody. Delice was transported to JMH Ryder Trauma Center to be treated for a gunshot wound.

He was arrested and faces charges of: Burglary with an Assault There-in, Resisting Arrest with Violence. Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, Animal Cruelty
