Huge boulder crashes into home
Utah woman crushed while sleeping in bed
A Utah woman is recovering after a massive boulder rolled into her house and crushed her in bed.
Wanda Denhalter was asleep in her St. George home when the unthinkable happened at 3 a.m. Saturday, KUTV reported.
The huge boulder broke off from a large ridge behind their home and smashed into the bedroom, pinning Denhalter underneath. Injured and in shock, she somehow managed to find her phone and call 911.
Her husband, Scot Denhalter, was at their son's home nearby when police called.
"The officer told me she had been in an accident, and she just bought a car, and that's what I thought had happened," he told KUTV. "An unfamiliar vehicle and that she'd had a smash up or something."
Wanda Denhalter suffered a broken jaw, cracked sternum and a large gash, although it could have been much worse.
"With her jaw wired shut, I'm probably not going to get the full story for a few weeks," her husband said.
