Scientists are trying to figure out what type of animal lost an eyeball that washed up on a South Florida beach this week.

A person was walking on the beach in Pompano Beach on Wednesday when he saw the eyeball in the sand.

He called for help and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission responded.

FWC scientists took possession of the eye. They plan to preserve it and have taken it to their lab in St. Petersburg, where they will try to identify what type of animal it
