FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

All eastbound lanes of I-595 are open again near I-95 and Federal Highway following a fatal traffic accident around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Florida Highway Patrol reports that a pedestrian was walking down the highway toward the airport when the victim was hit by two cars. The drivers both stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

It is unclear why the victim was walking down the highway.

Medical examiners are currently working to identify the body.
