A 27-year-old man is dead after the jet ski he was driving crashed into a boat just after 10 p.m. on Sunday, Miami police said.

A family of five was aboard the boat the jet ski crashed into. None of them were injured, but some were shaken by the tragic accident. Police spent most of the night interviewing witnesses. Investigators want everyone to be safe over the holiday weekend.

"There are no lights on the front of these watercraft, and a lot of times it's carelessness, not using common sense or good judgement," said Lt. Ignatius Carroll with Miami Fire Rescue.
