KENDALL, Fla. -

Surveillance cameras captured video of a robber breaking into a Kendall jewelry store Wednesday morning.

According to police, the two thieves involved in the robbery stole thousands of dollars worth of gold from the Five Star Jewelers on Kendall Drive and Southwest 117th Avenue.

From several angles, video shows a car pulling up and a man getting out, completely covered and holding a hammer.

"Times are bad. People are trying to get whatever they can, and they're willing to do things like this, unfortunately," said security guard Henry Ravelo.

The robber hit the front display case 10 times before it broke

"He is definitely strong. He hit that glass 10 times, and you definitely have to be strong to get through bulletproof glass," said Ravelo.

The entire incident took 21 seconds, which makes police believe that it was planned. It happened about 3 a.m., meaning no one was inside to stop the robber.

"Any help we can get, we will greatly appreciate it. We are showing the video. We're doing everything on our part to catch these perpetrators," said Ravelo.

Police said they got away in a dark-colored car.
