Jury recommends death SW Fla. killing
Jurors recommend death for man accused of killing his girlfriend and neighbor in SW Fla.
Jurors have recommended the death penalty for a 49-year-old man after convicting him in the death of his girlfriend and a neighbor in southwest Florida.
The jury convicted John Lee last week and returned the death sentence on Thursday. In a month, a judge will decide whether to take the jury's recommendation or sentence Lee to life in prison for the deaths of Traci Nabergall and Jason Salter.
They were found stabbed to death in Salter's home in January 2011.
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports Lee had been released from jail just days before the killings.
Court records show Lee had accused Nabergall of cheating on him with Salter. He had threatened her and punched Salter in early 2011 and was arrested on a domestic violence charge.
