Kids disgusted by rats at local school
Rat problem dates back to May 2011
Kids and parents said they are disgusted because of a rat infestation at their school.
Health inspectors said Panther Run Elementary in Wellington has been dealing with the rat problem for months.
In fact, parents learned on Wednesday that the pesky problem dates back to last May. Palm Beach County schools said it has gone on this long because the principal did not notify the district about the problem right away.
In all, 45 work orders have been placed about the rat problem at Panther Run. The district said workers have been trapping the rodents everywhere and that the problem is about 85 percent contained.
One parent didn't seem so concerned. "I almost didn't react at all because it's not a big deal," said Allison Collins. "If these people lived in New York City, they'd have to deal with it all the time. It's a fabulous school and I'm sure they're doing everything they can to take care of it."
