LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — A Lakeland Police officer has been arrested and charged with armed sexual battery by a law enforcement officer and armed aggravated stalking.
Law enforcement said that Julio Pagan turned himself in Thursday at the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Lakeland Police Chief Lisa Womack said during a news conference that Pagan met a resident while responding to a call. Police records say Pagan then returned to her home while in uniform on at least three occasions over the summer and asked her for sex. The woman said they had sex at least once.
Pagan was suspended with pay Friday night. It is unclear whether he's retained an attorney.
Records show that Pagan, who formerly worked at the Bartow Police Department, was hired by LPD in 2011 and is paid $43,789.
