State lawmakers are considering a new bill that would offer high school students more pathways to earning a diploma.
The "Graduation Bill" is in response to standardized tests students mist pass to graduate. The Miami Herald reports that only 59% of students passed the Algebra 1 course test in 2012.
The new bill would give students more options. For example, according to The Miami Herald, students would be able to choose among different designations, giving the mastery of certain subjects more weight than others.
In addition, students would be able to choose from more elective courses.
