Live roaches found in Dadeland Mall eatery
Inspectors shut down Cafe Esperanto after 14 roaches found in food prep area
Cafe Esperanto in the Dadeland Mall was ordered shut last week after roaches were found in the food preparation area, according to state records.
Below is a list of last week's "Emergency Closures" and some of the violations found by Inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

"Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. 14 live roaches in the preparation area next."
"Certified Food Manager or person in charge lacks knowledge of foodborne illnesses and symptoms of illness that would prevent an employee from working with food, clean equipment and utensils, and single-service items."

"Stop Sale issued due to food not being in a wholesome, sound condition. Ice"
"Accumulation of black/green mold-like substance in the interior of the ice machine."
"Rodent activity present as evidenced by 40 dried rodent droppings found inside a non working walk in cooler."
"Roach activity present as evidenced by 10 live roaches found in the kitchen on walls. Also observed 10 plus live roaches in a non working walk in cooler located inside the establishment rear."
