Man arrested for stealing race bike in Parkland
Police say man stole racing bike, tried to pawn item
Police say a man has been arrested for grand theft after he allegedly entered garages of homes in Parkland, stole bikes and golf clubs and later pawned the items.
BSO Parkland said on Feb. 23 between 10 am and 5:41 pm, Curtis Gottlieb had entered a dwelling in the 8000 block of NW 109th Lane in Parkland, Fla.
Gottlieb entered the dwelling via an open garage door, according to police and removed a specialized Tarmac racing bike valued at $4,000.
At the time, police said the dwelling was occupied by the homeowner.
Officials said Gottlieb then trafficked in stolen property by pawning the bike for $500. In doing so, police said Gottlieb provided false verification of ownership to the pawn dealer.
Gottlieb was interviewed by police and provided a post Miranda confession.
Police said the stolen bike was found at the pawn shop.
