Police are investigating after a man drove up to a Gainesville hospital's emergency department with a dead woman inside his vehicle.

Gainesville police on Sunday afternoon determined that the 47-year-old woman's death was suspicious. They interviewed the 46-year-old man at Shands at the University of Florida.

Police spokesman Ben Tobias says the man hasn't been arrested, but he's not free to leave.
The Gainesville Sun reported police believe the woman died at a Gainesville house.

They were seeking search warrants for the house and vehicle late Sunday.

Tobias says there were no obvious signs of trauma on the woman's body. An autopsy will be performed.

The names of the man or the woman have not been released.
