FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

A man was charged with killing his wife after she was found dead inside their apartment in Fort Lauderdale.

Alberto Ramos was arrested on Tuesday.

According to an arrest report, police were investigating a call from a friend of Ramos at 625 Antioch Avenue. As the officers stood outside the apartment, Ramos came outside with blood on him. He had called 911 and reported he killed his wife.

The body of Danitza Gomez-Reyes, Ramos' wife, was found in the bedroom. Officers also found several knives near her body, according to the arrest report.

Ramos was taken to Broward General Medical Center for cuts on his forearms. Police believe the cuts were self-inflicted. He also reportedly told doctors he took 30 to 40 pills earlier Tuesday, but didn't say what type of pills he had taken.

Ramos is being held on no bond.
