Man charged with sexually battering godson

A man is accused of sexually abusing his godson from the time the boy was 6 until he was 15 years old.

Oscar Figueros was arrested on Wednesday.

According to investigators, Figueros, 33, is the victim's godfather and a close friend of the boy's family. The victim is now 19.

The victim told police Figueros began sexually abusing him at family events when he was 6 years old.

Police said the acts progressed as time went on, and at his 15th birthday, Figueros asked if the victim would be his boyfriend. At a New Year's gathering that year, the victim agreed, but later ended the relationship.

In September 2012, the victim's sister and brother-in-law confronted Figueros, who admitted to sexually abusing the victim.

Figueros is charged with 10 counts of sexual battery on a minor by an adult. He was being held on no bond.
