Man found dead on golf course

Officer found man's body when investigating reports of gunshots

SUNRISE, Fla. – A man was found shot to death early Monday morning on a golf course in Sunrise, according to authorities.

It happened in the area of 3700 North University Drive.

The Sunrise Police Department said an officer was investigating reports of gunshots when she discovered a car with bullet holes on the scene. Upon further investigation, the officer found the body of a man on a nearby golf course, detectives said.

"I heard six or seven shots," said a resident who lives near the crime scene. "I hear the shots. I see one car and then I see two cars. One went around. The other pulled out real slowly. I stayed inside the house. I didn't know exactly what was going on."

The shooting happened near the Goldfinger Gentlemen's Club. Lenny Delpercio, the manager of Goldfiner, said his club was closed at 3 a.m., an hour before the shooting was believed to have taken place.

"They are still working on the investigation and I do not have all the answers to how many witnesses or how many people are involved," said Officer Cindy McCue.

Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to come forward.
