FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

A jury reached a verdict Tuesday morning in the trial over the death of a pregnant 17-year-old girl.

After 90 minutes of deliberation, the jury found Edward Babbs, now 19, guilty of two counts of first-degree murder.

Babbs is accused of fatally shooting Stephanie Rabsatt, 17, in a car parked outside a Winn-Dixie store in Miramar in 2009.

Prosecutors said they believe Babbs killed Rabsatt because she was carrying his child and he was angry that she wouldn't terminate her pregnancy.

But defense attorneys said the prosecutors' statements didn't add up and that he was not the killer.

Rabsatt's family was in the courtroom throughout the trial, including when gruesome pictures were displayed before the jury. Some of those in the courtroom wore ribbons bearing Rabsatt's name and "Jayden," which would have been the name of her unborn child.

"We'll always be in mourning. It will never leave us, but we know he's off the streets," said Rabsatt's mother, Karen Moore.

"It cannot bring back her," said Rabsatt's grandmother, Berneice Graham. "We miss her so much. This cannot bring back her, but at least we get justice for the two of them."

Babbs will be sentenced on March 1. He could face life in prison without parole.

Prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty because Babbs was 17 at the time of the killing.
