BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -

Police are hunting for two robbers who shot a man at a South Florida motel.

Boynton Beach Police said the robbers ambushed their victim early Tuesday morning at the Seven J’s Motel on Northeast 8th Avenue.

Police said Neil Rogers, 45, and a co-worker were staying at the motel when they heard a knock on the door. Rogers opened the door and two men shoved their way inside. One of the robbers pistol-whipped Rogers and then shot him.

Doctors said Rogers is in critical condition at Delray Trauma Center.

Rogers is from Trinity, Florida. He is a pipe fitter and the owner of Florida Sewer & Storm Inc. Rogers has been staying at the motel for several weeks while working on a project in the area.

The other man in the room was not hurt.
