MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -

A woman stole $700 from a tourist visiting South Beach, pulled a gun on him when he confronted her, and then threw about 20 bottles of wine at him as he chased her into a nearby Walgreens, said Miami Beach police.

The incident happened at the Walgreens at 100 Lincoln Road about 4:50 a.m. Monday.

The victim, who was visiting South Florida from Chicago, told police he was outside the Berkeley Shore Hotel on Collins Avenue with some friends when Peggy Harrell, who police said is a prostitute, approached with a friend and began rubbing against the victim. When Harrell left a few seconds later, the victim realized $700 in cash was missing from his front pocket.

The victim then confronted Harrell about the missing cash, and police said Harrell pulled a gun on him. The victim was able to take the gun away from Harrell and he tossed it in a nearby trashcan. Detectives said the firearm was actually a BB gun.

Police said the victim chased Harrell into the Walgreens, where she used pepper spray on him and threw more than 20 bottles of wine and other store products at him.

When police arrived, Harrell was holding two wine bottles.

A manager at the Walgreens said she caused about $1,500 in damage. The store was closed for about an hour because of the pepper spray and smashed wine bottles.

Detectives also found a baggie of cocaine in Harrell's bra. The cash stolen from the victim was never recovered.

Harrell was arrested and charged with robbery with a firearm, theft, criminal mischief, and possession of cocaine. She was being held on no bond.
