Police shoot, kill suspected gunman
Miami-Dade police officers shot and killed a man at an apartment complex Tuesday night.
Miami-Dade police had been looking for a suspect involved in a fatal shooting at a Northwest Miami-Dade restaurant in that area on Tuesday.
Reynaldo Cabrera Hernandez had been the focus of an intense search after he barged into the restaurant Tuesday morning near NW 199th St and 57th Avenue. He was looking for his longtime companion, Misley Gonzalez, an employee.
Once he found her, detectives say he pulled out a gun and fired two shots -- killing the 39-year old woman.
Miami-Dade police shot and killed Hernandez around 8 p.m. Tuesday at 7155 West 14th Court in Hialeah.
"I knew what was happening," said a neighbor. "I knew they were looking for this guy who shot and killed his wife."
On Wednesday afternoon, police confirmed the suspected killer shared this Hialeah apartment with the woman he would ultimately be accused of killing.
It's the same complex where neighbors often saw the seemingly happy couple -- and the same building where Reinaldo Hernandez would be cornered and killed by detectives late Tuesday night.
"I saw him yesterday morning and he was normal," said a neighbor. "It's really sad."
