Miami Gardens church offers members ATM for donations

Makes donating easier

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Passing the plate for the weekly church offering may soon become a thing of the past.

More churches are now using ATM style giving kiosks that allow you to use your credit or debit card to give.

Mount Herman A.M.E Church started using the machines about 2 years ago.

Director of Operations Reverend Paul Wiggins says there are processing fees that are paid to the company that runs the machine, but in the end the church says the convenience is worth it for their members.

He told Local 10's Constance Jones, "At the store, we are using debit cards. Why not at the church? Just utilizing the mode of payment people are using today."

Cassandra Wiggins faithfully gives money every week to the church using the giving kiosk. She says, she truly enjoys using the machines.

"It's easy! I do my budget and I know what I need to give. I just walk in and swipe," Wiggins said.

Church staff says that giving has not necessarily gone up, but nearly 50% of their collections now come from the machine.
