Miami PD on alert after cyber attack threat

MIAMI -

The Miami Police Department is on high alert because of a potential cyber attack.

The interim director for the city of Miami’s information technology department, Cindy Torres, wrote an email Wednesday about the potential attack.

Torres was letting city officials know that she had been “contacted by the FBI and Homeland Security and told that a threat was posted on a social media site from a known cyber terror organization with specific intent to disrupt Miami Police Department/City web services.”

Torres went on to say that Miami police have been dealing with several attempts to access their servers.

A city spokesman said that at this point, there does not seem to be a breach.
