MIAMI -

Police are investigating a series of shootings in Miami that left two people dead and four others injured.

Early Monday, a 17-year-old man was injured in a drive-by shooting in the 500 block of Northwest 43rd Street.

The man was involved in an argument with someone in a car, police say. When he got out and began walking away, a gunman in the car shot him.

The man was shot in the stomach. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Several bullets hit nearby homes. Police believe the gunman used an AK-47.

"I was woken up by the gunfire," said Randall Jones. "I didn't raise my head until the shooting stopped."

Jones said at least two bullets hit his home. His neighbor said a bullet went through his window.

"Put holes in the curtains, through the blinds, and hit the back wall," said Jones' neighbor.

Since Saturday, two people were killed and four others were injured in five different shootings.

In the last six months, there's been nearly a dozen drive-by shootings in Miami. Police suspect a rift between gangs as the reason.

"This neighborhood never had a lot of gun violence in it, but with the new generation, we don't know what to expect now," said Paul Moss, the assistant pastor at St. Matthews Freewill Baptist Church.
