A woman was arrested after she was accused of beating her 17-year-old son with a wooden bat.
Sheronda Roselva, 50, was charged with a single count of cruelty toward a child.
A judge set her bond at $50,000.

According to the arrest form, Roselva allegedly tried to kill her son with a bat while he slept inside their Lauderhill home because she could no longer take care of him and did not want to see him suffer.
He suffered injuries to his head and his back, according to the arrest report.
The child was able to escape to a neighbor's home to call police.

If Roselva is able to post bond, she will have to stay away from her son and wear an ankle monitoring bracelet.
It is not yet known where her son will be staying.
