There appear to be more questions than answers as to how a 4-year-old girl was shot and killed inside a car parked outside a home in northwest Miami-Dade on Saturday night.
Rahquel Carr was playing inside a Mercedes Benz with several other children when she was shot Saturday evening. The car was parked at 12015 NW 20th Avenue.
Carr was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
"We will be looking at who this firearm belonged to, where this firearm was in the vehicle at the time, along with who was present when this child was shot," said Miami-Dade Police Detective Roy Rutland .
Police believe the gunshot was fired from within the vehicle.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that a child may have accidentally pulled the trigger.
"Obviously, those kids will be interviewed as well, and that is a very, very important component to this investigation as well," said Rutland.
A family friend called the shooting a tragedy.
"She was an adorable girl," she said. "They miss her."
The family friend added someone drove the car without permission of the owner and left the gun inside.
No arrests have been made.
