New trick? Dogs learn to drive cars
New campaign to focus on promoting animal adoption
Some people think it's adorable... some believe it's a sign of the apocalypse.
But there's no mistaking that the sight of dogs driving cars on ABC's "Good Morning America" has captured the attention of the world.
The folks at the New Zealand chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SCPA) are in the spotlight after teaching three dogs to drive actual cars.
The pups, who were abandoned, were sent to a New Zealand animal talent agency and underwent two months of training.
But the driving skills the dogs have learned are not for entertainment purposes only. Their talent is all part of a campaign to show that abandoned animals make quality pets and that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
The three dogs will showcase their new abilities on live television in New Zealand to prove that they really can drive a car.
