The owner of a Miami massage clinic and several patients are arrested in an insurance fraud scam, Florida CFO Jeff Atwater announced Friday.
State investigators said Judith Gonzalez, 39, the owner of Flamingo Health Corp. in Miami, is accusing of billing insurance companies nearly $250,000 in fraudulent insurance claims. She is also accused of coaching patients to commit personal injury protection fraud.
Atwater's office said undercover officers posed as patients, and Gonzalez had them sign blank treatment forms and told them how to answer questions from their insurance companies
Gonzalez, who is a licensed massage therapist, was arrested, as were a physician's assistant and 14 patients, officials said.
Anyone with information about alleged insurance fraud is asked to call 800-378-0445. A reward of up to $25,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest and a conviction in an insurance fraud scheme.
