Ohio 1992 homicide victim ID'd as Pembroke Pines woman
Ohio homicide victim identified through DNA as missing Florida woman 2 decades after death
Investigators have identified a woman who was found dead in northeast Ohio in 1992 as a Pembroke Pines woman missing since 1989.
The unidentified body had been considered a "Jane Doe" for more than two decades.
The Mahoning County coroner's office says a system providing free DNA analysis for missing people's relatives helped determine the homicide victim was Sharon Lynn Kedzierski.
Authorities say she last had contact with her family in October 1989, when she was 43. She was found dead of blunt force injuries near a parking lot in suburban Youngstown in April 1992.
A coroner's investigator focusing on cold cases had added DNA from unidentified victims to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. Kedzierski's daughters also submitted DNA samples, and analysis confirmed her identity.
