A 50-year-old man was injured when debris from a collapsed section of the Elbo Room in Fort Lauderdale struck his head.
At approximately 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department responded to a report of a partial roof collapse at the popular bar, located at 241 S. Atlantic Boulevard.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Broward Health with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.
An approximately 4 by 4 foot section of the roof on the southeastern exterior corner of the building collapsed, sending debris onto a patron sitting under an umbrella at a picnic table. Wooden 2 by 4’s and roofing material fell to the patio.
Rescue 49 transported the patient to Broward Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters and police closed the patio area affected by the incident.
Building inspectors were at the scene investigating.
The Elbo Room remains open for business.
