WEST PARK, Fla. -

Four adult pit bulls and seven puppies were stolen from the home of a man who told authorities he was a breeder.

It happened at the home of Moreno Yohai at 3300 SW 32nd Ave.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright said Yohai was struck on the head with the butt of a gun carried by one of three men who forced their way inside the house and tied him up. The intruders took the dogs, some cellular telephones and some cash.

Coleman-Wright said BSO deputies had been to the house on numerous other occasions and were familiar with the owner, who has been cited in the past for code violations. She said there had been at least two previous grand thefts and a burglary reported at the home.

"I have no idea (why the home has been targeted)," Coleman-Wright said.

Yohai walked around outside the house holding a towel over a cut on his head. He refused to talk to reporters, but someone inside the house said they bred pit bulls as a hobby. When asked about the code violations, the person had no comment.

There were visitors in the house at the time, but because their descriptions of the intruders varied, deputies would only say they are looking for a white cargo-style van.
