Police: 3 people shot in Overtown

1 transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, says police

MIAMI – Miami police continue to search for the gunmen in an Overtown shooting who victims' friends told Local 10 happened during a music video shoot.

Miami Police spokesman William Moreno confirmed three people were hurt in Saturday's shooting in Overtown. All three, he said, are expected to survive their injuries.

On the scene, there was a bullet-riddled dark-colored BMW that crashed into a sign welcoming visitors to the historic section of Overtown.

Family and friends of the shooting victims kept vigil at Jackson Memorial Hospital. They are the ones who told Local 10's Christina Vazquez the shooting happened during the taping of a music video in Overtown.

Joan Tisdale, the grandmother of one of the victims, said her grandson Andre Scott was known in South Florida's music scene as "Young Scrilla."

His mom, Quantriel Scott, told Local 10 the 29-year-old is just beginning to gain traction as an emerging artist.

Scott's younger brother, Joshua, and a cousin told Local 10 he was in Overtown Saturday afternoon taking part in the taping of a music video when the shooting happened.

On Saturday, Young Scrilla retweeted a picture from Overtown posted on Twitter by @TruStoryPromos with the text: "@Rocko4Real doing his thang in overtown. TRUSTORY."

In the picture, Scott can be seen standing in the far right corner.

@Rocko4Real is the Twitter handle for Rocko Da Don who at 9:40pm Tweeted: "SALUTE TO THE WHOLE DADE COUNTY FOR COMING OUT TO #DaSTREETZ VIDEO SHOOT IN OVERTOWN!!!! PRECIATE DAT REAL305LUV!!!! #RNS" There was no reference to the shooting.

@TruStoryPromos is the Twitter handle for North Miami's TruStory Entertainment.

On Twitter Scott writes that he's a recording artist for "TruStory Entertainment" who has opened for Rick Ross.

Scott's mom recalled the recent drive-by shooting involving artist Rick Ross in Fort Lauderdale. When Local 10 asked her if she thought there was a connection between gun violence and this music video shoot she said "I do", she says some get jealous.

She told Local 10 her son mentioned that just before the shooting he saw men trying to steal gold chains from some of the rappers.

Police are still investigating a motive.

Scott said her son was shot in the thigh and is doing well. She saw the other shooting victim and told Local 10 that person is also okay. The third victim she said was in surgery Saturday night.

Local 10 did try reaching TruStory Entertainment and Rocko Da Don through Twitter. At this point it is unclear who the featured artist of the music video may have been.
