Coral Gables police said Jennifer Gutierrez, 23, of Miami, died of her injuries four days after the crash.

"She was a great mother, she was a great daughter and she was nice, and it was hard for all of us," said Edel Mora, Gutierrez's neighbor.

The other driver, Peter William Munoz, 24, of Coral Springs, was treated for less serious injuries at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. Munoz is a Coral Springs police officer, and police said he was off duty at the time of the crash and was driving his own car.

Police said toxicology reports showed that Munoz's blood alcohol level was over the legal limit at the time of the crash.

Munoz surrendered himself to the Coral Gables Police Department on Thursday. He is charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide and was taken to the Miami-Dade County Jail. He was released on bond Thursday afternoon.

Coral Springs police said they have fired Munoz. The investigation continues.

Gutierrez left behind a daughter.
