Publix to anchor new retail center at US 1, Sheridan St

'West Lake Commons' will include new Publix grocery store if approved

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A busy, blighted corner in Hollywood is almost set to become a bustling new retail center.

The Lincoln Mercury dealership at the corner of U.S. 1 and Sheridan Street went out of business during the recession and now sits empty.

The property is going to become a 14-acre outdoor shopping center, anchored by a brand new Publix grocery store.

The retail center will be called the "West Lake Commons" and will include space for new retail stores and restaurants.

The city is expected to give final approval to the project next month and construction should begin by mid 2013.
