TAMPA – Firefighters spent Monday morning battling a 2 alarm fire at a Tampa recycling plant.
The fire started around 4 a.m. and kept crews busy the entire morning. The flames destroyed the plant, but the main concern was two nearby tanks filled with anhydrous ammonia .

The plant is located near Port of Tampa. Area residents report hearing explosions at the time of the fire.
Investigators tell Local 10 that a pile of scrap steel originally caught fire and it then spread.
No injuries were reported. No evacuations have been ordered.
