DAVIE, Fla. ā€“ Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson, formerly known as Ochocinco, faced a judge Sunday morning after Davie police said he head-butted his wife of less than two months.

Davie police told Local 10 that the alleged incident took place Saturday night. Police say Johnson's wife became angry when she found a receipt for a box of condoms in their car. A fight ensued and escalated when they got to their Davie home. Once in the driveway, Lozada said Johnson head-butted her. Johnson told police she leaned forward and they hit heads accidentally, police said.

Johnson spent Saturday night in the Broward County Jail.

Local 10 spoke to the Miami Dolphins Saturday and the team said they are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering all the relevant information.

Johnson married Lozada, a cast member on the VH1 reality TV series, "Basketball Wives" on July 4.

Many people know about Johnson's big personality on and off the field-- he has been a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars," starred in his own VH1 dating reality show called "Ultimate Catch," and has appeared clad in nothing but a strategically placed football in a PETA ad. However, Johnson has never had any trouble with the law.

In the Dolphins' first preseason game Friday night, Johnson dropped the only pass thrown to him, but he did start the game.

Local 10 will update this story as more information is confirmed.
