MONROE COUNTY -

Traffic closures are expected along the Overseas Highway after the Labor Day weekend.

The Florida Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin a roadway construction project on Tuesday, September 4.

The project limits extend along US 1 -- the Overseas Highway -- from mile marker 90.021 to mile marker 90.75.

The project will cost an estimated $660,000. It includes milling and resurfacing along a four-lane section of the roadway and updating the signage.

The work will last about three months and closures will occur during non-peak hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday.
