LAS VEGAS -

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida is due to visit a Las Vegas elementary school that he attended as a child when he makes a weekend campaign stop in Nevada in support of Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.


The Romney campaign says Rubio will headline a 9:30 a.m. Saturday rally at C.C. Ronnow Elementary School.


The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the southern Nevada stop will be Rubio's first solo campaign trip for Romney.


Romney has said he is considering Rubio as his vice presidential running mate.


The public is invited to the rally, but must register for free tickets online at http://rubiovictoryrally.eventbrite.com .


Rubio was born in Miami. His Cuban immigrant family moved to Las Vegas in 1979 when he was 8, and moved back to Florida in 1985.
