MIAMI -

Sen. Marco Rubio will be one of the headliners at the Republican National Convention in Tampa Bay later this month.

Rubio has been tapped to introduce former Gov. Mitt Romney on the final night of the convention.

On his Twitter feed, Rubio wrote: “Honored that @MittRomney has asked me to speak & introduce him on the last night of @GOPConvention."

This is a major honor for the junior senator from Florida, who was passed over as Romney's running mate.

Romney tapped Rep. Paul Ryan from Wisconsin as his VP pick.

Romney and Rubio campaigned together in Florida on Monday, including a stop at Palacio de los Jugos in West Miami-Dade.
