Sarasota woman charged with murder for hire plot
Florida woman charged with trying to hire someone to kill husband, tenant
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — Sarasota police have arrested a woman for allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband and a tenant.
Janeene Lea Jones was arrested Monday and charged with two felony counts of solicitation to commit first-degree murder.
Reports say that the 49-year-old reportedly called the plot a "two for one" when she met with a law enforcement agent posing as a hired killer.
Officials say one intended victim was her second husband, who she allegedly wanted to kill in order to cash out on a life insurance policy. The other victim was a tenant of a property where she was the landlady.
She is being held at the Sarasota County Jail without bail. It is unclear whether she has retained an attorney.
