Lauderhill police: Man tries stealing person's gold chain, shoots at victim

LAUDERHILL, Fla. -

Two elementary schools were locked down Thursday after an attempted gold chain robbery nearby.

The shooting happened in the 2200 block of Northwest 59th Way about 11:30 a.m.

Police say the robber tried stealing another person's gold chain and shot at him. He missed but police believe he may have hit the victim's car.

Both Endeavor Elementary School and Royal Palm Elementary School were locked down as police investigated.
