Coast Guard calls off search for missing Bradenton boater; sheriff's detectives investigating

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard has ended its search for a Bradenton man whose boat was discovered floating near Egmont Key.

Patrick Mullins, who is a media specialist at Palmetto High School, was last seen Sunday.

His 14-foot boat was discovered floating near Egmont Key on Monday.

Coast Guard officials say crews searched 2,200 square miles for of 66 hours.

A spokesman from the Manatee County Sheriff's office says detectives are investigating the 52-year-old man's disappearance as a missing person case.
