NAPLES, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a second person — a small child — has died following a crash on Alligator Alley in southwest Florida.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 3-year-old Rylee Douglas died just before midnight Monday.
FHP says a car driven by 33-year-old Cecilia Renee Douglas struck another car Monday morning. Douglas veered off the road, went through a fence and into a canal. FHP says she was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Another child in the car, 4-year-old Madison Douglas, remained in critical condition Tuesday.
Three passengers in the second car also received serious and minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
