HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -

The parents of a 1-year-old boy face child neglect charges after police said they left the infant alone in a hotel room at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

Albert Owens, 36, and Natalie Fouche, 30, appeared in bond court on Wednesday.

About 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Seminole Hard Rock security guard went up to their room because a telephone had been unplugged, which is standard procedure, said a spokesperson for Hard Rock.

Inside, the security guard found a 20-months-old boy asleep in a bed. After waiting 20 minutes for a parent or guardian to return to the room, he called Seminole police.

About 8:05 p.m., the boy's parents returned to the room and said they had been eating and drinking at Hard Rock, according to the police report. They told police they unplugged the phone so the sleeping boy wouldn't be awakened by it.

Both Owens and Fouche were charged with child neglect. They bonded out of jail on Wednesday.

The child is now in the custody of his grandmother.
