Authorities say a man stole $21,000 from a central Florida charity offering medical care in Haiti.

The Indian River County Sheriff's Office charged Phillip Dustinn Keeling on July 3 with grand theft and forgery.

Keeling did fundraising for the Vero Beach-based Haiti Clinic to provide medical care for people living in a slum in Haiti's capital.

The sheriff's office says Keeling had the charity reimburse him for fraudulent fundraising expenses.

Haiti Clinic board members say that Keeling gave them invoices, credit card statements and copies of checks. The documents were forged.

An arrest affidavit shows that Keeling paid back $17,000 after the board confronted him. Keeling was being held Tuesday on $120,000 bail. Jail records didn't show if he had an attorney.
