Slick roads lead to at least 20 crashes in Miami-Dade
There were at least 8 crashes in Broward
The heavy rain led to a miserable Monday morning commute.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports there were 20 crashes in Miami-Dade County and eight crashes in Broward County between 6:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
The FHP is only responsible for state roads, so that number could be much higher in South Florida.
Local drivers have not had much rain to deal with in the last several months, so many were probably surprised when they left their garages on Monday morning.
Later in the day, another crash connected to the wet roads was reported just before noon.
There was better news coming from the airports. Neither Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport nor Miami International Airport reported any delays because of the weather.
