South Florida lawmakers vote on "Fiscal Cliff" bill

Bill passes with the help of South Florida lawmakers

WASHINGTON, DC -

Late Tuesday night, congress passed a bill that will help Americans avoid tax hikes and deep spending cuts. The so-called "Fiscal Cliff" deal passed with a 257 - 167 vote.

Not surprisingly, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Alcee Hastings,and Fredrica Wilson all voted in favor of the bill. Republicans Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart went against their party and also approved of the bill. Republican David Rivera was one of the 167 representitives who voted against the spending plan. 

Now, the bill has to be signed by President Barack Obama. President Obama says he plans to sign his name to it as soon as it arrives on his desk.
