South Florida man accused of putting alligators in pool

No word where man got live Florida alligators

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. – Police are investigating after, they said, a man tossed two live alligators in a pool and then threatened to kill a cop.

On Saturday night, Riviera Beach police responded to a report of a man throwing an alligator in his pool.

When they arrived, they immediately placed Darrell Jones, 27, under arrest.

Jones' brother then told police that Jones attacked him with a knife because he called the police.

Jones' brother said he called police because Jones brought two small, live Florida alligators to the house and then threw them in the pool.

During questioning, officers claim Jones admitted to attacking his brother. Also, police claim Jones threatened to shoot one of the arresting officers.

It is not clear why Jones put the alligators in the pool or where he got them.

Jones is charged with possession of an American alligator, battery on an officer, assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

He remains behind bars at the Palm Beach County Jail.
