Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho and School Board member Dr. Martin Karp were present and addressed the students, along with Principal Dawn Baglos, Trayvon’s teacher Michelle Kypriss, and Miami-Dade Schools Police Chief Charles Hurley.

The candlelight vigil was held as an opportunity for students to honor Martin’s memory. Students were able to read poetry, interpret musical selections and reflect on Martin’s life.

Martin’s mother, Sabryna Fulton, has encouraged students to sign petitions, participate in organized rallies and pray for Martin.
